Mallard Roost #3 to Mallard Roost #1

Mallard Roost #3 landing

Mallard Roost #3 to Mallard Roost #1 is just over 4 miles and takes about an hour and a half of steady paddling.  The depth of the river is sufficient enough that there are no points at which you should have to walk the canoe.

Mallard Roost #2

Mallard Roost #2 is a takeout point about .83 miles and 20 minutes downstream from Mallard Roost #3.  Mallard Roost #2 is just North beyond 600N Bridge. Mallard Roost #1 is 3.26 miles and another hour and a quarter or so from Mallard Roost #2.

Between Mallard Roost #2 and #1 there is a tree down that can be maneuvered around/under.

canoers on the Mallard Roost #3 to #1 stretch

Early June, the pond weeds in the river through this trip can be fairly difficult.  However, there are very few trees down and the water flow is very slow. You can maneuver upstream nearly as easily as going downstream.  There is not much tree cover on the banks keeping the bugs at a minimum.

Mallard Roost #1 takeout

Mallard Roost #1 is just past the US 6 Bridge on the east (right, when heading downstream) side of the river.
